Dog Gone Walking is proud to be partnering with Taffy’s Legacy, a local dog rescue, to match adoptable dogs with their perfect human. Over the years, we have seen the love and joy that rescues can bring to everyone around them, and we firmly believe that all dogs deserve a home to call their own. We hope that this partnership with Taffy’s Legacy will bring us one step closer to finding every dog their furever family.

February is the month of love, which means there’s no better time to introduce Rum, our Taffy’s Legacy adoptable of the month!

Rum is a 1 year old terrier mix looking for a patient forever home that is willing to continue his training! He is very smart and eager to please, and loves working for his food! He knows all his basic commands plus a few tricks! He loves people, but has some bad manners including mouthing and jumping up that he is working on. 

Rum is working on his manners and needs a strong advocate to teach him what is appropriate behaviour, and maintain rules and boundaries for him to be his best self. He can be very stubborn and resort to poor manners if he feels he is not getting enough attention. He is working on building confidence in his foster home to be comfortable being independent. He has a lot of energy and needs structure, routine and boundaries to thrive.

Rum’s foster mom says:
“He is a very cute, fun, friendly, loving dog. He will be a great companion for someone who is familiar and excited about terrier breeds and the personality traits that come with them.”

Rum is:

• House and crate-trained
• Good with dogs
• Good with cats
• Okay with children (he does mouth, and needs strict boundaries and an adult who can put clear rules in place)
• Okay on leash (needs some work!)
• Great in the car!

He is a medium-energy level dog, who needs help with managing some anxiety, shadow-chasing, and “small dog syndrome.”

Full of spunk, Rum is ready for his furever home!
