Why is it that we spend lots of time and money looking for the perfect toy for our cats and get so excited for them to play with their new toy! When in fact they have way more fun with the bag or box that the toy came in. Don’t worry I’m here to help! Spend less money with making your own easy and simple diy cat toys, that will take less than 30 minutes. 

Homemade toilet paper roll cat toy

           Things you will need 

1. An empty toilet paper roll

2. Scissors

3. Kitty treats 

             How to make it 

1. Mark four, 1/4-inch (or finger-width) marks on the side of the cardboard roll.

2. Use the scissors to cut each ring.

3. Insert the first ring into the second ring, then continue with the third and fourth, until you’ve formed a ball.

DIY whack- a- mole cat toy 

               Things you will need 

1.  12 pack cardboard soda carton

2. Scissors 

3. X-acto knife 

4. Glue 

5. Bamboo skewers 

6. Crafting feathers 

7. Duct tape 

8. 2 pipe cleaners 

9. Paper towel tube 

               How to make it 

1. Remove soda cans from the shorter side panel. Once empty, re-glue the panel back together.

2. Using an X-acto knife or scissors, cut out one of the longer side panels.

3. Make a support post by cutting a cardboard paper towel tube to the height of the box. Apply glue to both ends and place in the center of the box.

4. Using your X-acto knife, cut out circles from the top of the box, avoiding the support post.

5. Time to make your toys! Tape both ends of the bamboo skewer to make sure there are no sharp ends.

6. Take both of your pipe cleaners and fold them in half. Bend to create about an inch-long tip that points upward, perpendicular to the skewer.

7. Wrap the pipe cleaners around the skewer, and secure the loose ends with tape.

8. Glue features to the part of the pipe cleaners that sticks up (so that your feathers end up sitting perpendicular to the skewer).

9. Play! Maneuver the skewer up through the holes of the box to entice kitty!
