During these hot summer days we are often left with the decision of whether or not to bring the dog with us on our fun adventures. On the one hand, we don’t want them to miss out on the fun, on the other, it can be hard for them to be in the hot sun. One of the biggest components in this decision is whether or not we are going straight from our home, to the beach, or if we have a few stops to make on the way. This is when dogs often get left in vehicles, during the run into the grocery store. We cannot stress enough how dangerous it can be to do this. Of course, this is situational of the weather etc. However the problem remains, what can we do to avoid this situation?
There are a few places that welcome dogs into their businesses. Depending on where you are traveling, a quick search can tell you of a couple places where you can bring your pup indoors, or at least keep them with you. Take restaurants for example, in many cases when you ask nicely, the restaurant will allow your pup on the patio with you. According to Bring Fido here are a couple café’s that are pet friendly on their patio in the KW region:
Balzac’s Cafe
Melville Cafe
If you feel like taking a quick trip to St Jacobs, Block 3 is also a dog friendly establishment. It’s a great place to stop while shopping, and grab a drink with or without your pup. Other stores such as Canadian Tire, Lowe’s and Mark’s Work Warehouse will also allow your pup inside with you. Keep an eye out for that pet friendly logo, and don’ be afraid to ask a manager nicely. After all, we all want everyones dogs to stay safe.
If you know of any other dog friendly places please let us know! Let’s keep our dogs safe this summer!
